FORTY YEARS AGO TODAY |
Abba 1974 |
Look at those bell bottoms and the boots.....I used to wear them too, I loved my boots, white patent with a silver strip up the side and a huge platform heel .... sigh ....:-)
We had mini-skirts, frizzy hair......and hot pants!!!
and
I got married
what induced me to take the plunge!
Well I was totally smitten because Sr P said he had......
A CASTLE
and
A BOAT
and
ORANGE GROVES
and
Plenty plenty sunshine
now how could a girl say no to that.....
oh! nearly forgot and also a generous dose of
and it just gets better and better.
Have a great day...... I plan to!
Amanda :-)
Bit dull but shades are down over the window.....sun heats up the room very quickly! |
Bless him! He didn't forget :-)
Oh, what a lovely story :) Happy anniversary Amanda & Sr P!!
ReplyDeleteBut I do find it hard to believe that cell phones existed then, they must have been the size of a bus! And I do remember the 70s, well my memories are more orange and brown and not being allowed to wear pink because my mum didn't think it matched my hair!! Sx
Many thanks Sally!
ReplyDeleteThe very first mobile phone call was made I suspect it must have been the end of the 70s and yes bet it was like a big walkie talkie.
Amanda :-)
Ηappy aniversary Amanda! Very sweet post!
ReplyDeleteI loooooooooooove the Abba group! A few months before I saw the Abbamania, here in Athens!

ReplyDeleteI still love Abba and listen to them frequently in my car...I have a good old sing song as I drive along

Happy anniversary! I remember the 70s too, although I wasn't an Abba fan. I do remember singing Waterloo in music lessons at school though! I have to admit to breathing a sigh of relief music wise when the Sex Pistols emerged!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day!

Have a great Anniversary! I remember the 70's. My grandad looked like Ted Heath and when he came on the TV I used to think how came grandad's on TV and I used to get particularly confused when Ted Heath was on the TV and I was in the same room as my grandad! I remember Abba well! KP loves Mama Mia and even watched the film over the weekend!
ReplyDeleteJune
It was a brilliant film and Meryl Streep was fab. Even my husband watched it and he isn't really in to musicals.

ReplyDeleteHello Amanda, so nice to meet you, thank you for popping in to introduce yourself. Happy Anniversary to you both, what a lovely romantic couple you are. I am now following you, its a lovely way to meet people isn't it. I am looking forward to the jar swap, have a very unattractive plastic jar to send (safety reasons) although I hope the contents will please........you can give hints :)
ReplyDeleteI was married the year before you, was quite young really however we had been going 'steady' since I was almost 16, so knew what I wanted. Loved Abba and loved the movie with Meryl Streep. Wore bell bottoms and cork wedge shoes and hotpants and pop socks, had 'frizzy' hair as I used to have my hair permed and I have thick hair. Then went all 'hippy' for a while........oh what fun days they were. Loving your sun, we are in the Winter season and today is only 10 deg, brrrrr!
Will have to email each other with addresses soon.
Take Care
xo Sandi
Hello Amanda, Thanks for visiting me. I have gone thru' your whole blog... well, almost and I just love your style of writing. I was a schoolgirl in the 70s and ABBA was my favourite group. Let me see if I can hunt out some old CD and take a trip down Nostalgia Lane. The info you gave about fans was too good...I had no idea just holding a fan was so complicated and also romantic! You are so lucky to come from a family of crocheters, for years I was the only person crocheting in my family and social circle till I discovered Blogland.
ReplyDeleteThank you for refreshing some old memories. Will definitely be following you.
And yes I hope Your True Love Story never ends....Best wishes to you both.
Love
Hello Sangeetha
Deletethank you so much for your kind comments. I don't think the music of Abba will ever die.
I am popping over to your blog now to comment
Amanda :-)
Hi Amanda,
ReplyDeleteI was only born in November 1979, so I've missed the 70s completely - nevertheless, ABBA was my favorite band when I was a teenager in the 90s - yes, I was a little bit different :)
Thanks for your visit at my blog and your sweet comment! Nice to meet you :)
And happy Anniversary!!!! (I always admire people who make it this long in these strange times!)
hugs,
Barbara
Thanks Barbara...have replied on your blog
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Amanda!
