Copycat

Grand-daughter:Covid test results =

Thank all the stars in the heavens it is negative.

I have pinched an idea...an idea from an idea that Kathy on Compassionknit posted on her blog.

Kathy listed 21 things she is going to do in 2021 and  I enjoyed reading her list and I like the idea as well.  😊

Now then, I did mention on my post  Resolutions sound too demanding that I don't do resolutions so please don't take all what I am going to list here as carved in stone as a year is a long time and things change....don't they!!

21 things I am going to do in 2021

(21 cut down to 16)

1. Get rid of things that are tedious and finicky to clean except my Lladro china and all the rest of my china and porcelain.....the glass chrome serving trolly is going!!   update: It has gone!

2. Reduce my yarn stash for once and for all....now I really mean this!

3. Go and see my family in Devon UK. I am thinking of September now. Initially I thought Easter but the way things are at present I do not see it happening.

4. Clean out and declutter my office/craft room....there is just no space for anything...got to be adamant about this!!

5. I really think I shall have to put my Family Research data on some sort of portable storage thingy and in a universal type of format. A 250 gigabyte pen drive should cover it and it would be easy to send to another member of the family when I am not around any more.

6. I am going to get some Air plants!

7.  My living room TV is crooked! It is too big and heavy for me to slot into place on the wall bracket properly.  Sr P (his handyman instincts are nil) has been ignoring my suggestions about sorting it out! Another strategy will have to be employed to get it done! Thinking on it!

8. Determined to give our bedroom a facelift...it looks tired which is stimulating I suppose to get to sleep at night but looks dreary during the day

9. When spring begins to peek around the corner I must sort out the jungle on my balcony.

10. Go to the hairdressers. I have cut my hair myself it is a mess! I refuse to go to a hairdressers now when I have been given the vaccine... perhaps.

11. Work on eliminating that sensation that I have to catch up with other bloggers who post more than once a week. I cannot! I must stick to posting once a week ,reply to comments on same post and post comments on blogs.    Yes...Amanda just once a week

12. Video chat with my sister in Queensland more often. Ask for her itinerary so I can catch her in between her constant trips away. That woman just can't stay in one place for long!

13.Walk and  Discover places here in the city I didn't know existed. Look for Doors! For the newcomers you may ask why doors please read this .

14. Iron on another lazy patch this time on Sr P's black jeans.

15. Pop around to the Social centre see if they have any courses/activities programmed for later in the year.   1. Choir, 2.Theatre 3. Keep Fit.  or other .

16. A thorough hunt among the storage boxes in the spare room cupboard to find my grandmother's cameo brooch. Not happy I cannot find it.

Precisely!!     I am sure there are many more things I have to do this year but at present they escape me!  That is it for the time being.

Little babe's hat:

I made the April babe a matching hat to go with his blanket with some of the blanket yarn I had over.  I used the pattern Round Sailor's hat from Love to know.It is a free pattern and can be downloaded in pdf format.

The star was an extra and I did it from memory.

I am in a hat mood at present and I have just started a hat for my sister. Although, after seeing Betsy's on The Simple Life of a Queen 's next wonderful glove project I think I fancy crocheting some gloves for someone as my next project too.

Latest RAOCK :

I have been trying out something new I found on Pinterest to make for the RAOCK (Random Act of Crochet Kindness) group.

A cup cake book marker.

You can get the free pattern from the Blue Star Crochet blog. It is a good make for using up small amounts of yarn. I used Anchor pink and white cotton, a 3.00mm hook + a mini pom pom, a silk tassel and a little fibrefill.  A quick make.

Are you getting tired of scenery photos?

Please state your preferences for what you would like to see and read on my blog.

Keep well

Amanda :-)

  1. Dear Amanda
Good luck with your 21 in 21 list. As for blogging more frequently, it is your blog, so post something when you want to. It can feel very pressured sometimes, so do what is right for you.
The baby hat is so cute - I am sure it will be very well received.
Personally, I could never get tired of scenery photos, especially from another country!
    Best wishes

    1. Thanks Ellie :-) I am my own worst enemy because I have built up this pressure myself as really no-one here among my blogfriends are breathing down my neck! Perhaps its the remnants of my old excessive work routine which is taking its time to adapt to retirement mode. :-) A x

  2. That's quite a list Amanda, good luck with it all just don't beat yourself up about it if you don't manage to get it all done, but I do hope that you manage to see your family some time this year, I'm planning for right at the end of the year to see my son and keeping my fingers crossed That little hat is so cute and so is the book marker. Yes as far as the blogging is concerned once a week is enough for me too unless something crops up that I need to talk about or maybe a pattern I have written I'm just going with the flow. I'm with Ellie I love to see photos of scenery too it quite brightens my day xx

    1. Thanks Linda. I do hope you manage to see your son. I shouldn't wish the time away at my age but times flies as they say so I keep telling myself it won't be long. re: blogging...I think I am trying too hard! A x

  3. That is a great list Amanda. I'm so glad to hear that the test was negative. I've been praying for her and hoped you would update us. We're hoping to go to London sometime this year for our son's wedding but it's had to be postponed twice already. We told them to go ahead and get married without us and when this is all over we can have a big party and redo their vows with family and friends around. Son is disappointed because he wanted his Dad to do the wedding. Time will tell.
Your list is wonderful. I want MORE stash, not to get rid of it! When we get in our house, I would like to restock some of my favorite yarns when they're on sale. I gave much of it away when we sold our house and moved into the RV. I do still have yarn but not as much as I would like. :-). I do use a LOT of yarn for my charity knits.
Have a lovely week and don't worry about keeping up with ANYONE. It's impossible you know. :-)
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  4. I saw another friend post their list too, I am not good with lists especially since I am retired now I get up and decide what I want to do that day. I have started deep cleaning though. Love the little hat-very sweet.
and I enjoy reading what ever you like to post-so what ever pleases you-go for it-hugs Kathy

    1. Thank you so much Kathy for comments. I need to try and keep myself organized hence the list . I think it is a habit I created that goes back to my past working life holding down three jobs . I could only do that by organising my daily routine to the last minute detail. A +

  5. Oh, I'm so glad your grand-daughter's test was negative. Whew!
Your 21 in 21 list is impressive. Even if you only achieve some of them it's good to have plans and goals. I love seeing your landscapes and your makes. There's no need to try and keep up with others, so just post whenever (and whatever) you want to. xx

    1. Hi HH, It is a great relief! My list: great expectations. I will indeed be content if I get through half of it. Actually If I get the trip home I would be happy with that alone! A x

  6. I love your local patch photos - they are such a contrast to where we live so what may seem normal to you is quite magical to me :D Your 21 in 21 (except it is 16 is enough!) is a very good idea!

  8. I'm glad to hear the result of the test was negative. It's good to have a few achievable goals so all the best with the 21 in 21. As for the blogging routine I like the variety of what you share, the thoughtful replies and also the comments that you leave on my blog which keeps the contact and conversation going. I tend to write a blog once a week these days or when I have something happening in my relatively quiet life. I like your creativity and find your walks very interesting. Best wishes, Linda.

  9. Thrilled your grandaughters test was negative, that must have been a relief. Love the idea of 21 things to do in 2021, I am going to give that some thought. Covid seems to be dictating what we can and cannot do, I have trimmed my hair to and made a mess of the fringe. Good job it grows out. Love the blanket and such a great idea to do that gorgeous hat. Take care.

I got my air plants on Amazon. They are mexican and 5 or 6 are doing really well. Love them.
I read that there is a movement to stop calling it stash, and call it your collection. I Love that.
That baby hat is the bees knees!!!!

I'd like to see you change your title photo once in a bit . IT IS MAGNIFICENT but I wonder what your other photos are like?
I'd love to see all your crochet and yarn projects. I get inspired by others blogs and their projects!

  17. Good news about the negative test result - phew! That little hat is just gorgeous and the bookmark is cute, your work is so neat. I really like the idea of a list for the year, I made a summer holiday list three years ago and it gave me a good structure for the six-week break, and a friend of mine made a list of 40 things to do during the year in which she was 40, but I can't seem to plan anything while we are still running scared of Covid-19. Take care, Amanda. x

    1. Thanks for stopping by Mrs T :-) I think I have overdone it a little bit in my list but time will tell. It is difficult to plan and I do feel so unsettled but I have got to hold on to a bit of sanity and force myself to organise things a little. A x
