Crafty in the Med

I am here to enjoy meeting other bloggers and to share my love of craft ,mostly crochet, my thoughts and my daily happenings here in Alicante,Spain, my adopted country. I belong to a local choir because singing and music makes me happy. Flea markets and book shops are two of my favourite places to be. I read lots......sci´fi/fantasy,buried treasure, and off world adventures. I have a passion for history! I walk and walk and walk for about 10 months per year during the hot months I swim.

TATA

Lockdown has ended here in Spain!  The restrictions for masks and social distance and so on continue of course because the pandemic is still with us!

Some inconsiderate, idiotic people seem to think everything is back to normal and they can fling away all caution having enormous parties and gatherings and doing what they like!  They say their freedom has been curtailed enough! You selfish ignorant beings! Since Sunday when lockdown was lifted the number of infected has risen again and more people have died.  YOU out there are curtailing my freedom and million of others right to return to a normal life. YOU do not know what freedom means!

I apologise to my followers out there that I have had to start this post with a rather severe tone to it.  It just makes my "blood boil" at the total selfishness of some people.

 😟😟😟😟😟😟😟😟😟😟😟😟

Well I am pretty sure you are wondering what the acronym TATA stands for!

I invented it myself and it means " Travels around the area". Happy hooker in her comment on my last post mentioned she enjoyed my posts about "Travels around the area" which is where I got TATA from so this expression was coined by Happy Hooker.

By using TATA I can let you know if my posts are about just that or just a paragraph which you can skip if you find that reference to TATAs in my posts are boring

I think you are going to like this TATA!

We went on this excursion just before the first lockdown. It is one of my favourite places in the province but it is a bit far away from home. The route is beautiful! The road winds its way up from the coast from Benidorm into the Marina Baxia and up into the mountains and the views are incredible

The Castell de Guadalest (Guadalest Castle)

Looking towards Benidorm area ...way down there on the coast.

The steep meandering roads where one has to drive at times really carefully are well worth the climb to get here and see these sort of views. It is one of the most beautiful areas in the Alicantina province.

I never tire of coming here.

Once you go up to the Castell and go inside you can see these splendid views of The Reservoir.

I was invited to a wedding here once. It was fabulous! All the village were invited. The bride walked from her Gran's little house situated within the Castell followed by a trio of guitar players. People clapped as she walked towards the tiny church which is situated at the entrance to the Castel (castle). The church was so small that all the guests couldn't fit in but the doors were flung open so everyone could hear the mass and the guitars playing as they serenaded the bride and bridegroom. Afterwards the villagers were singing and dancing in the street and cheerfully bickering to get a chance to dance with the bride or the bridegroom.

If you have seen the film Mama Mia and the wedding scenes it was a bit like that.

The best wedding I have ever been to!

RAOCKs

I finally finished the house warming gift I was making and have sent it to the USA. I cannot show you what it is as yet because the blogger in question will see it here and it is too soon! I want her to receive it first 😊

I have made these two RAOCK items this last week:

A crocheted plant pot cosy. Great to use up left over yarn!

and  a BIG red bow for Lenny,my sister's dog. Kindly modelled by Sylvester the cat .

Welcome to two new followers.

Thank you for joining me here on my blog. I do find it difficult to see who you are on the Follower widget so please feel free to comment here and I can then link to your blog 😁

Happy blogging

Amanda :-)

  3. I agree, some people are so selfish. It's covid that restricts our 'freedom' and risks our very existence, not the rules to combat it.
Such beautiful photos, thank you. Also the RAOCKs are great!

  4. So chuffed that you've adopted TATA. I feel like I've had a mini holiday each time you show us around. I look forward to more! I agree that those people who flaunt the Covid rules are selfish. We're all sick of losing our freedoms, but their actions just mean it will take longer to get them back. Your pot cover is lovely, shame I don't "do" houseplants (I have a very special knack of killing them)and I don't think it'd work outside.😂 xx

  6. I think I went to Guadalest Castle while on holiday in Benidorm - it looks familiar. All I remember is the winding route up into the mountains made me car sick! It is beautiful though and worth the trip.

  7. Beautiful photos again Amanda. And beautiful RAOCK's ... just adore that planter pot.❤ Yes we have selfish people here too ... I think you will find they are everywhere. They think this pandemic is just an inconvenience to them alone & don't think of anyone else. Selfish!!

  12. I totally agree with you about silly people thinking that they can do what they like, have they not seen what's happening in India! the pandemic is far from over as the Indian variant is starting to make it's presence shown in England so our easing of restrictions could be bitter sweet. I love those views what a lovely place, if do come to Spain again I will be looking up your TATAs to see if I can visit them myself. I love the plant pot holder and I'm sure Lenny is going to love his bow. Teresa is in my thought. Take care. xx

  13. What wonderful pictures, another great day out! Thank you for sharing.
I am up there with you; some people really think they are "free" to do what they like. We all have worked very hard to keep ourselves and those around us safe; all of us look forward to move around freely again, but that freedom could be short lived because of some very selfish people. xx

  14. Guadalest is such a lovely place to visit, one of the too go places when we had visitors. Being into miniatures we thoughly enjoyed the dolls house museum. The walk to the top is a little difficult for me, but so worth it when you get up there xcx

  15. I'm right there with you on the screaming at idiots. Some people just can't seem to control themselves. We just finished with a 2 month curfew and theaters opened but only fully vaccinated people could go, which we aren't, not that I want to go anyways. i'm perfectly happy to stay clear of crowds. You live in an area with so much natural beauty. I miss traveling. It was my sanity from this desert country I live in. Cute pot cover. I have lots of yarn that I need to get to work with. Take care.

We were just starting to consider finally travelling together to certain parts of Spain now that we haven't got to worry about work and then the pandemic hit...tch! A x
