Crafty in the Med

I am here to enjoy meeting other bloggers and to share my love of craft ,mostly crochet, my thoughts and my daily happenings here in Alicante,Spain, my adopted country. I belong to a local choir because singing and music makes me happy. Flea markets and book shops are two of my favourite places to be. I read lots......sci´fi/fantasy,buried treasure, and off world adventures. I have a passion for history! I walk and walk and walk for about 10 months per year during the hot months I swim.

Night crochet better than Valium

Hello to all you late night readers and welcome to a new follower   Julie at Dragonfly Gems .

It's 2.25am and I can't sleep so I am plugged into my ipod listening to Michael Bolton and have turned to my crochet to help me to unwind. I've finally finshed the front of my cushion cover granny square and am concentrating on Cherry Heart's cushion back tutorial part 1 which is super clear. I've never done a crochet back for any of my cushions before but Cherry Heart's looks quite attractive so I'm hoping I'll be able to turn out a cover as nice as hers. The tutorial can be found here Cushion cover back  this is part 1 but you just have to follow the link to part two to continue.   I did have a tiny bit of a tussle with attaching the corners and had to unravel and go back to the first corner but that is because I was distracted by the cat (Willie just had to make the most of a warm body to cuddle into at 2.30 in the morning) and ignored the slipstitch into the middle treble of the opposite cluster and so it wasn't turning up at the corner however I've corrected that and I'd say it is now coming along nicely.   I've frequently used crochet or cross stitch for stress release and find having to concentrate on stitches pushes the woes of the world ,which sometimes engulf my thoughts, away and allows me to relax.
I'm yawning!  that's a good sign........and Willie has started to become decidedly tiresome as he thinks its an appropriate time for me to scratch his chin and behind his ears....its time to go ...back to my bed and to sleep!
Sweet dreams :-)
