Crafty in the Med

I am here to enjoy meeting other bloggers and to share my love of craft ,mostly crochet, my thoughts and my daily happenings here in Alicante,Spain, my adopted country. I belong to a local choir because singing and music makes me happy. Flea markets and book shops are two of my favourite places to be. I read lots......sci´fi/fantasy,buried treasure, and off world adventures. I have a passion for history! I walk and walk and walk for about 10 months per year during the hot months I swim.

OK! so I sealed the parcel and.....

.........forgot to put a hello note in to say what was what and from yours truly!

This means of course that the recipient ,my first swap partner that I choose to send to for the Grand Tea Swap hosted by Lucy at Lucy in the Sky, is about to receive a parcel from Spain or may have done so already because I sent it to the UK last Monday, with some goodies from an inconsiderate ME who forgot to put in a note being in too much of a hurry to get the parcel to the post office.

Now said recipient may wonder why they have received a sachet of BAY LEAVES in the swap parcel.

I would have explained this in THE forgotten note of course.
There is a very simple reason because they are grown here in the province of Alicante ;in a small town called Novelda.

I have decided that from now all my swaps or giveaways must contain something typical from this area of Spain and no I do not mean castanets, flamenco dolls or small black bulls!
So watch out peeps for some rather out of the ordinary bits in my parcels other than the normal makes or craft supplies.

****************************

My Puff or footstool cover is growing , albeit at a rather slow pace but to keep me crochet happy I need to do some distraction makes and here you have another .......distraction Nº 3!

I found the pattern on  this blog here.
I would like to give the blogger a mention but I can't find the name of the blogger however the pattern is in pdf format and is very clear and easy to follow.

I used a 2.50 Aero hook and SMC Coats Catania Cotton in green, brown and yellow.
The mini pot is from Agost the pottery village.
I bought two little pots;dropped one and it smashed to smithereens.
I won't repeat what I said at the time!

Tomorrow is MONDAY and I like MONDAYS....I really do!!!
I'm ready to take on the world again after replenishing my batteries over the weekend  :-)

Keep well

Amanda :-)

  1. I always need distractions too Amanda or I get bored that's why I always have too many things on the go at once. I do love the cactus and it's flowering! 2. Love the little cactus. I always look for distractions. I am still puttering along with the Jordan blanket and it doesn't seem to be growing at all! So I made some triangle grannies for Lucy at Attic 24 for the Yarndale bunting. Now I have to steam block them and wait for an address to get them to her. In the meantime, I've gone back to my first love, counted cross stitch. So I'm all over the place! I really don't like Mondays but for some reason Tuesdays make me smile. I'm weird like that! :)

    Hugs,
    Sharon

  6. That's the sort of thing I would do! If I blur my eyes a little, and that doesn't take a lot of effort these days, then your cacti looks real! :) x

  8. I absolutely love my parcel Amanda thank you so much. It was a lovely surprise to receive. (((Hugs))). I will blog about my 'Spanish' goodies this week. Bay is one of my favourite 'herbs'. I have not had any for years. I will enjoy it in my cheese sauces and casseroles. Happy Monday indeed here. :) xxx

  15. Well, I enjoyed the telling of your latest swap, Amanda :-) Would you believe that I forgot to include something in a swap so I ended up sending two packets and at the same time my partner did the same thing for me so I received two packets, too. That made me chuckle.
Do you have cacti around you. I am still visiting my sister in CA and am enjoying seeing a variety of cacti...but yours is the cutest :-)

  17. How cute your cactus is......it looks so realistic! It is so easy to leave the note out when packing a parcel.....I've often done it too, and discovered the note left on the table after a lot of thorough taping has been done on the parcel!
Wishing you a happy day, Amanda.

  19. That’s a creative parcel! I am also planning to start a business from home where I can take help of same day delivery Dallas service and get all my creative arts delivered in a day. I know my business is going to take some time to settle down but I have already found a good service for getting my things delivered.
