MY Sunbabe |
I am sure we all know the saying "there is always a first time " and so there you have it the first time I haven't received a parcel from abroad!
My Autumn Glory swap partner Helen on Moonstrucks Creations posted her swap parcel to me on 29th November and it still hasn't arrived so we have both agreed that it has definitely gone astray ....... gone walkabout among the Christmas post I presume tch!!!!
I'm not really annoyed at the postman of course as it isn't his fault but certainly at the two postal systems! Nevertheless, as I was commenting to Helen it is the risk we take and especially if posting abroad. I've had a long lucky run up to now with post so I suppose I cannot whine about it too much!!!!
However I thought I would share with you what I've made for Helen, usually I publish these with the post of goodies I've been sent and when I know that the recipient has their parcel. In this case because of the loss of the parcel Helen sent to me I cannot do that but I can show you the goodies Helen has received from me:
At least Helen has received these things I made for her ,I would be even more fuming if my parcel to her had been lost too:
- A red and green cowl which was taken from Kathy Kelly Chi-Town crochet cowl pattern found here . As usual I tweaked it a bit and interwove some green hearts into it. I liked the effect I do hope it fitted Helen. I was a bit dubious about sending a cowl as some people find they are itchy (I for one)but the Red Heart Shimmer 10 ply (Aran) yarn I used is very soft.
This pic is taken from the designer's web page ...imagine it in red with interwoven green hearts if you can!!! |
- A sunbabe(see above), the pattern taken from Vanja's amigurumi dolls here which was tweaked to my liking too....she is supposed to represent the Autumn sun here as there was a lot of it when I made her and sent to Helen at the end of September.
- A crocheted pendrive pouch to hold a pendrive with a few music files that I had uploaded and thought Helen would like. You see I had noticed she had been on holiday to Granada (fantastic place) and had accompanied her post about Granada on her blog with some muscial video clips and so I thought she would like some Music from Manuel de Falla and from the Bolero of Ravel as well.
- I added an assortment of ribbons, buttons and fridge magnets as well but I cannot find the photographs I took of all those bits and pieces. It was three months ago!

Well, that was quick....I am pleased to tell you that Charlie boy from Spanish Strays has been adopted and now has his forever home!! Whoopee!!
Amanda :-)
Dear Amanda. Snap!!!! I sent a parcel to my daughter from the Uk because she was based in Barcelona at Christmas time. I posted it on the 9th of December and it has still not arrived! Her partner posted her 2 parcels from Genoa and they have not got their either. What is going on!!!! It is such a shame when so much love and effort is put into something and it all disappears!
ReplyDeleteHello Linda
DeleteThanks for visiting my blog.
Well I've been very lucky up to now and I get parcels from all over, from overseas too! My sister posted a parcel to my daughter for Christmas and it got here on 8th January and she posted it on 13th December .
Very annoying!!!
Keep well
Amanda
How annoying, so much hard work, I have heard of things turning up after a period of time though, so fingers crossed :) xx
ReplyDeleteIsn't it just!!! I don't know what Helen had sent me of course but I imagine it was something really lovely going by her makes on her blog . At least she received mine thank goodness.....that would have been the limit both parcels going astray!
DeleteMany thanks for visiting.

Don't give up, it might still arrive - I am waiting for a swap parcel from the USA (I am in South Africa so it is quite a distance) that was posted on about Dec 12 2013. I just got a card in my box yesterday for me to collect a parcel from the Post Office and I think it could be my parcel, fingers xcrossed!
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame! Its so disappointing when that happens! Your gifts look lovely, i especially like the music gift, the crochet is beautiful like jewels. They had Torvil and Dean on tv last night talking about bolero and how significant it was to their win. It is a beautiful piece. Fingers crossed your parcel arrives. X
ReplyDeleteLovely goodies! I especially love the little pendrive pouch. Such good news about Charlie Boy. xx
ReplyDeleteHow annoying when you know so much work and love has gone into the contents, fingers crossed they will arrive soon. I love the things you have sent Helen I bet she was thrilled to receive them. :)
ReplyDeleteI sure hope the parcel finds it's right way. I love your autumn baby
ReplyDeleteHope your parcel arrives soon. Love the little doll!

Helen is going to be thrilled. That happens all the time here. I sent Kathy B a parcel and after several months it got returned to me, she never got it and I had already made her something new.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
I do hope she was Meredith! Well I've been lucky up to now but I can still hope the parcel gets to me :-)
DeleteA xx
What a shame you didnt get your swap. I really love what you sent though.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh, I remember how anxious I felt when my parcel to you took so long to safely reach you! I hope that Helen's gifts to you will arrive soon! I love what you sent to her...and what you sent to me :) Joy to you and yours, Amanda! xx
ReplyDeleteWhat an adorable sunbabe !
ReplyDeleteMy great nephew's Christmas present was returned to me on Saturday, " failed to deliver and failed to collect " I'm annoyed as it looks like I didn't bother to send him a present.
Hello Penny
DeleteThanks for visiting.
Gosh! What a reaction! I'm hearing more and more now that other bloggy friends have not received their post either…whatever is happening with the postal service!!!
I can well imagine you are annoyed!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you both Amanda...I have had parcels mysteriously arrive months later...I do hope it turns up soon for you...x
ReplyDeleteYour makes for Helen are gorgeous and how sweet is the little sunbabe!
Happy New Week,
Susan x
Don't give up hope yet! I posted to a dear friend in America long before the last post date and yet it still only just arrived last week! It might get to you yet! XOX
ReplyDeleteAlso! i love the things you made. The pouch is lovely. And the doll so sweet. XOX
ReplyDeleteDon't give up I did a swap last year and unbelievably it turned up a full six months .You make such lovely things she must be so chuffed with her swap .
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that your parcel will arrive soon...I often post to France, and it sometimes takes months!! Love the Sunbabe you have crocheted..I still have the duck from our swap last year..even put him on my blog today!! :)
ReplyDeleteI am waiting for a Secret Santa gift that was apparently sent from South Africa on 12th December...no sign of it here yet. Sigh. My mum (rather foolishly) sent me some money from the Uk to France in October - that never arrived. I fear some villain with an X-ray machine spotted it was money and nicked it. Knowing what my mum is like (uber generous) it could have been upto 100€. She just wasn't telling me, so I wasn't too disappointed not to get a birthday present!!
ReplyDeleteI have that same "bone to pick" with our postal service! Some packages that I paid "Priority" for and was promised 3 days took over a week. Needless to say, cookies were not as fresh:-( I've started using UPS or FedEx instead, XOXO
ReplyDeleteHello Susan
DeleteMany thanks for visiting my blog. Many say my swap partner's parcel may still turn up so I can but hope. At least my swap partner got my parcel. I'd feel terrible if she hadn't.
I am a Downton Abbey fan too but we still haven't received series 3 here on Spanish TV however I am one of the lucky ones as my sister sent me 3 & 4 from the Uk to me for Christmas. Needless to say I went through the lot over Christmas ….it was wonderful :-)
I'd love to participate in your giveaway that red apron is quite glorious….in fact I'd even say glamourous :-)
Keep well
Amanda :-)
What a shame but Helen will be thrilled with her parcel - you have been so generous such a lovely swap x
ReplyDeleteThat is just so upsetting... I can sympathize with you because I have lost a few packages going to my family in the 24 years I have lived here. And that is why I decided to send my Christmas package to them in January as a New Years package this year. I'm sorry ... I know Helen would've been so happy!
ReplyDeleteHello Taci
DeleteMany thanks for visiting my blog. That may be the solution sending post after Christmas to avoid the shambles in their logistics at that time of the year. However up to now none of my parcel that I have sent have ever gone astray …. Thanks goodness. My swap partner received these items that I sent her mid October. It was my swap partner's parcel to me that has gone missing. She posted it at the end of November so it must be have got tied up deep within the mass of Christmas post not delivered somewhere in their network. I'm still hoping I'll receive it.
