Welcoming three

A warm welcome to three new followers. I'm sorry but I haven't been able to work out who you are on the followers widget and therefore visit your blog too.

Please post a link to your blog here....thanks๐Ÿ˜Š

My Pony Tail plant looking very happy!!

As the New Blogger interface seems to have settled down for me and is in working order ( I am whispering...just in case)  I have got down to tidying up my blog and deleting bloggers who regrettably are now not here in Blogland with us anymore. I have also updated my Blog roll but should you not see yourselves there please shout out!!

I saw a few things when I was out shopping yesterday which made me want to turn around and go back home. Which of course was what too many people do.. just shrug it off. Well I tackled the people concerned and told them they were a bunch of animals and that pigs were cleaner than them!!  I suppose I shouldn't have because I only get irate and upset about these things...but I just couldn't let it go.

I don't really want to write about doom and gloom.....we get enough of that from the media but I just feel I have to say my bit:

Mother Nature is again hitting hard out there in many parts of the world, although I don't blame her I am convinced it is retaliation for the way we ( as in all human beings) treat the environment!!   I mainly blame the governments who are not doing enough to protect our world. It is all very well that we the people (or most of us) individually go out of our way to do what we can to be environmental friendly, but obviously it isn't enough. Our world and how it is organised needs a damn thorough spring clean and some people need to go back to school and also do their homework about being environmental friendly and why. Are they not aware that the poles are melting....the ozone layer is tremendously fragile and the Amazon"Earth's lung" is being destroyed....burnt to mine or sell off the land to big corporations. The governments of the world need to step in!!  The selfishness and greed of a few will mean the destruction of this our beautiful planet!

Rant over!!!๐Ÿ˜ž

Pushing the blues away with a bit of crochet talk :

My Spanish nephew likes a nice cuppa tea and he had bought himself a 6 cup teapot when he moved into his new apartment. He had seen me using a tea cosy and tried to buy one himself here in Alicante unsuccessfully! It didn't surprise me that he couldn't buy one. Tea cosys are not a Spanish thing and I have never seen any at all ๐Ÿ˜€   My last one my sister bought over for me from the UK from M&S.    Therefore,I decided I could easily crochet one for him:

As you can see the cosy is a bit big for this 3 cup teapot but it snugly fits my nephew's 6 cup teapot .

This was not my own pattern. I will cite the designer when I find the pattern.

RAOCKS:

I dropped this RAOCK flower off to be found in the city centre last February. I went shopping walked past the bench where I had left it and it was gone!!

This is a Valentine flower I made last February in Red Heart sparkly yarn. You can't see the sparkles so much in the photo but it was really sparkly!!!

In my RAOCK stash. My Matron Flower Fairy, made last October, was inspired by lots of wonderful creations I've seen on the web and a dose of my own imagination. It is free form so I haven't got a pattern but I plan to make some more to correct a few things I don´t like on this one particularly the face,my weak area. She is supposed to sit on a plant pot.

Have a great weekend!!

Keep well

Amanda  :-)

  1. I am totally with you! we can rant all we like but unfortunately it falls on deaf ears some people just don't want to know. I too have seen many masks lying around and I fear it's just going to get worse, I see people and it has to be said older people wearing a mask and not covering their noses so what's the point! Anyway your crochet is lovely that flower is so pretty and the teapot cosy, it's rare that people use a teapot nowadays but I always do when I have more than two people around. It's lovely that your nephew wants to use one. Your matron flower pot fairy is so cute and there is nothing wrong with her face it's sweet! have a lovely weekend. xx

  2. I totally agree with you and sometimes I despair.

  3. Agree wholeheartedly. I read this morning about volunteers cleaning up beaches here in the UK. Mostly plastic beach toys, buckets, spades, frisbees. They say that as they're so cheap to buy people just leave them behind instead of taking them home. What is wrong with these people? Where do they suppose all this detritus will end up? Rant over! Love your RAOCK's. Lucky recipients. xx

    1. Thanks!! :-)
I just don't know....really!!! I am being to think that there should be a severe penalty for littering, fly tipping and massive tipping of plastic/rubbish into the sea needs to be a criminal offence. I know that sounds rather over the top but they just wont learn and are ignoring the consequences. Sooo selfish!!! A x

  4. I also agree with you. It's worse now with the masks and disposable gloves that people just throw on the ground. Who do they suppose will pick them all up for them? The magic cleaning fairies? Or rather, they just don't care.
I love your RAOCK's. You are such a kind person and care about everyone and everything. Your nephew's tea cozy is fabulous. I made myself one years ago but it disappeared somewhere.
    Take care my dear friend.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  5. about climate change, Twenty thousand years ago sea levels were 125 meters below their current levels. The most rapid change came around fourteen thousand years ago when sea levels rose about 30 meters in less than 1,000 years (average 3cm per year). In Europe that resulted in the land that is now under The North Sea becoming inundated and The British Isles being cut off from Continental Europe.

The cause was glacial melting as we exited the last ice age, but no one has any idea what caused the ice age or the subsequent warming - back then it certainly wasn't due to the effects of man-made pollution and the industrial revolution!
Climate change has been happening for millions of years and wont stop just because we are being taxed back to the 7th century.

    1. Quite so Ann. Certainly natural climate changes have always been happening and should continue do so throughout the growth of our planet but should do so over very long periods of time. I totally agree that the last ice age and subsequent warming at that time could not have been caused by the minute human population that existed then or even those that came afterwards. There are lots of theories of course of how ice ages come and go. I believe one of the theories, in simplistic terms, is that the variation of sunlight that reaches the earth can cause an ice age or end one! In the case of the climate change we are experiencing now it is not a natural occurrence. It is happening faster and is more extreme and is influenced by humans due to the effects of a rapidly growing population,an enormous increase in CO2 and other greenhouse gases among many other things too. keep well Amanda :-)

  6. I think Mother Nature is screaming at full volume at all of us, but still so many do not listen and rankly many believe climate change is all a hoax. So sad isn't it? Stay safe my friend. Love your crochet.

    1. I am amazed at those people who believe climate change is a hoax...they need to open their eyes and see the signs. Many thanks Mere! A x

  7. We have litter laws here in Oregon and can be fined for littering. Do you have those there? We still have it here but we also use our prisoner crews to clean the roadsides. I think all citizens of all countries need to be indoctrinated to not litter. How nice of you to crochet your nephew hid very own tea cozy! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

    1. There certainly are fines here for littering!! Since the recession 2009 approx the attitude of the people here has gradually changed. Hardship breeds selfishness and inconsideration. Please do not get me wrong there are good kind people here but in general there is more harshness and lack of social unity. A x

    2. Yes that is me! I have had the same problem with some others I am following - where my icon picture doesn't show up. I am not very computer literate so haven't even tried to figure it out. xx

  11. Hear hear on the planet! It's so very discouraging to see how we treat our home. We must do better than this.

That tea cosy is adorable! I hope your nephew enjoys it. And I really like the face on your flower fairy. :)
