Three months has gone by since the unpleasant incident that I had distributing my RAOC's (random acts of crochet kindness) which you can read about here . I thought it was time to try again.
I dug into my RAOCK stash to take two RAOCKs with me on my walk last Thursday along the ROAD.
This time I placed the flower and the butterfly in eco-friendly plastic bags and also stuck a label on each bag indicating the date that each RAOCK was placed in the bags. I hope this will do the trick and people will pick them up.
I walk just before lunchtime so there are not a lot of people around where I go. I left one on a bench near the beginning of my walk and the other at the end of it. I crossed the road and returned along the other side where I could watch those benches inconspicuously as possible. Nobody had picked them up
I took the same route the following day for my walk and I checked out the benches and the RAOCKs had gone.
I Hope they did produce smiles! |

πLeggings users unite:
This is a fun invitation to all leggings users:
If you are a leggings user I invite you to show your solidarity with my blogfriend Meredith at Mereknits who commented on her last post "I am obsessed with leggings or yoga pants. I know I am very late to this trend. ... I am not in the shape to wear them... "
Can you show Meredith she is not alone in her eagerness to wear leggings and that it is indeed still the trend, by posting a fun snapshot of your leggings! You don't have to be wearing them if you don't like that idea you can take a photo of them hanging on the line if you like and give a mention on your next post please and also you could comment why you wear them.

I wear Leggings for walking ! |
I wear my old leggings indoors |
In
the past ,for casual wear, I used to practically live in jeans but I adapted with
the times and fashion to leggings. I wear leggings even more now since I have retired and
do not have to respect a conservative dress code for work. Leggings are
one of the most comfortable items of clothing I have ever had and can be
even urban smart if combined with the right sort of clothing. My one
restriction is that I only purchase leggings in discreet dark colours. I leave
the bold bright psychedelic colours to the younger generation or those
with slim mid-body contours who are happy to proclaim their attractive
slimness wrapped in those vivid colours.
Do you see my socks (pic 1.)? I love snazzy coloured socks, the brighter the better! I call them my protest socks...a personal shout out showing a little bit of the rebellious me. I think after yarn, snazzy coloured socks are also one of my addictive buys.
Fey Flowers
A new RAOCK.
My second make in my Fey Flowers collection.
Hook 3.5 Yarn: a mix from the leftovers basket mostly Double Knit. A little fibrefill. Red Embroidery cotton. Silver Antennae x 2.
Pattern : 5 multi layer flower. Japanese Author unknown. The leaves, edgings and face free-form.
What would I change? Go back to using cotton instead of yarn for the face!
π Counting the days until I can hug my daughter and grand-daughter again.π

stay safe

Glad your RAK's were taken, hopefully by someone who is unable to make them, it's alway a much nicer gift if it's something I can't make. I too love my leggings, only been wearing them for a couple of years, but so comfortable and as you say, they can be made to look really nice, at this time of year wearing them with knee high boots is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteThanks for calling in :-) I can appreciate my leggings even more now that I am retired. They are perfect for nearly all weathers except July and August when I turn to very light cotton dresses. The best for the heat here. A x
DeleteI enjoyed reading your blog post. I have a blog friend that lives in Kuwait and she is always crocheting these little hearts and hangs them up all over on her walks. I am glad you found a solution so people would not be afraid to take them.
ReplyDeleteYears ago thinking maybe the 80's or 90's when I was still working as a phone operator-I mostly worked the night shift and it was cold in the room-I had a huge assortment of leggings and matching huge knitted tops from Victoria's Secret to go with them. I wore them for years-so comfy and warm. but I haven't worn them since then, and I think mostly as I had gained weight over the years. haha
I do not crochet or knit but I will share the pattern
Thanks Kathy. I must admit I do enjoy giving out little bits of crochet so I am pleased that someone took them. I just hope they didn't get thrown in a bin. You dont crochet or knit but you do make incredible quilts! :-) A x
DeleteThrilled your little gifts have been taken, hopefully it will have made somebodies day. I do wear leggings occasionally but I must admit they are not a favourite of mine.
ReplyDeleteThank you :-) I just hope they haven't been thrown into a bin! A x
DeleteDear Amanda
ReplyDeleteThe Random Acts of Kindness in any form should be celebrated and enjoyed and I'm sure yours were taken home with joy. It's a lovely idea.
I have leggings too, but I don't think I'll be sharing a photo - mine are black and are worn under tunic tops and tunic dresses. However, I also have some thermal ones for wearing under other trousers/joggers/jeans, which are very useful at the moment in the UK. It's cold!
I share your snazzy socks enjoyment - my socks are all colourful and patterned!
Best wishes
Ellie
Thanks for popping in Ellie :-) My leggings are usually black too...nothing fancy LOL! The suggested photo was only of the leggings not of you... as you can see I only showed the leggings (and my snazzy socks LOL!) in my photo. However, that is up to you of course :-) A x
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your RAOCKs were taken. I'm sure they made someone smile. As for leggings, I tried a pair on, many, many years ago and when I was much younger and slimmer. I looked in the mirror and Max Wall looked back at me! I didn't buy them then and I daren't try them now. I live in my old joggy pants at home. Same comfort but no Max Wall. π xx
ReplyDeleteHello HH. I must admit I also like using my track suit too. It is a comfortable garment. I much prefer the ones with elastic around the waist than a tie up top. I am not slim any more so I do wear long tops when I wear my leggings. A x
DeleteI remember your story of the little girl and the RAOCK and it broke my heart. I'm so glad your new ones were taken and will brighten up someones day.
ReplyDeleteMere's story of the leggings made me laugh. I know many, many people who wear them and love them. I do have one pair in the closet that I wore under my dress when I was having physical therapy for my back. I don't wear them on a regular basis but I know they are wonderfully comfortable. I wear my dresses pretty much all of the time but once in a while will put leggings or sweat pants on underneath for walks outdoors when it's very cold...like it is right now.
Have a lovely evening!
Blessings,
Betsy
Thanks Betsy :-) I truly hope the RAOCKs produced a smile or made someone happy, that is the idea even if it is just for a moment. I'll be putting out more next week. I live in leggings I save my cool cotton dresses for the torrid summer here . A x
DeleteNo not a leggings wearer, mostly jeans, palazzo pants or long skirts :D well done on the RAOCK front - I did 'Free Art Friday' in the village for 2 years and it was very popular but stopped during the covid risks, not begun it again yet, see how it goes weatherwise _ too cold and wet at the moment for art to be left out - might change over to crochet goodies instead :D
ReplyDeleteThanks :-) well then.....I would have thought you were a leggings user ...how wrong I was :-) When this nasty Covid is under control I can get back to more of a routine where RAOCKs are concerned. At present I am very cautious. A x
DeleteI'm so pleased someone picked up the RAOCKs Amanda, they are so lovely they will surely put a smile on somebody's face. I had to laugh at Meredith when she said that about her wearing leggings, I wear them all the time, at the moment I'm wearing fleece lined leggings and they are so cosy and warm in this freezing cold weather, like you I only wear dark colours but they can be dressed up with some lovely boots and nice dress or tunic, or just worn casually with a baggy top around the house. I love bright socks too especially if they are homemade. Sue's pattern is lovely, she's a very clever lady. Take care. Xx
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda :-) I do like the idea of fleece lined leggings. I am going to have a look for them online. It has been raining here ( as usual always welcome)so I have to wait until that blows over before I can get out to drop off more RAOCKs again. A x
DeleteI am so pleased to read you had more success with your RAOCK this time round Amanda & I love the way you have packaged them in cellophane bags with a little label. I think this is a great idea.
ReplyDeleteThanks Juile :-) I am trying to cover all precautions. I don't really like using the cellophane bags but it at least protects the person while having a look at what is inside. A x
DeleteI think it's wonderful of you to support Mere and her leggings and that you wear them as I am sure they are comfortable. I wear similarly comfortable pants but mine are more like slacks with elastic waist bands, I won't even try leggings as they are way to skin-tight for this large grandma body. I'm glad you had a better RAOCK experience this time. You are so generous! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by Teresa :-) I could never wear the skin tight leggings that some people wear much too revealing. I am pretty sure they have to peel them off when they get undressed! I wear a normal type of legging with elastic waist bands and always with a long top :-) A x
DeleteI love you Fey Flower, Amanda. He looks to be very mischievous.
ReplyDeleteAmalia
xo
Many thanks Amalia. She is LOL!! A x
DeleteI'm thrilled to bits that your RAoCKs were taken and, I am sure, much appreciated. Such a lovely thing to do and wrapping them so nicely just emphasises their specialness.
ReplyDeleteNo photos but I love my jeggings and jeggings and, at the moment, am wearing them under jeans for an extra layer of warmth. The only proviso I have is that my top needs to be long, very long, to hide various residual lumps and bumps! :-)
xx
Thanks Joy :-). The long top is essential in my case too. A x
DeleteYeah! your project bags, I'll call them because auto correct won't let me say that those plastic bags were taken! Hooray. I'll try the leggings shot...but it may not be pretty!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks Kathy for stopping by :-) Well I suppose in a way they are project bags I much prefer RAOCKs. A x
DeleteThank you so much for the shout out about leggings Amanda. I have them on right now with a longer short sleeve shirt. I really don't want to put anything else on! I am tall so covering my butt is kind of a problem, but if anyone is really staring at my butt and sees panty lines who really cares! Stay well.
ReplyDeleteHi Mere, thanks for stopping by. I do the same as you and wear a long top or tee over my leggings. I certainly do not use those thin tight leggings or skinny fit as they are called...far too revealing anyhow! A x
