Crafty in the Med

I am here to enjoy meeting other bloggers and to share my love of craft ,mostly crochet, my thoughts and my daily happenings here in Alicante,Spain, my adopted country. I belong to a local choir because singing and music makes me happy. Flea markets and book shops are two of my favourite places to be. I read lots......sci´fi/fantasy,buried treasure, and off world adventures. I have a passion for history! I walk and walk and walk for about 10 months per year during the hot months I swim.

Sunny Vale

Here's officially saying hello to my swap partners for the two swaps I am participating in, Kimberley in Bobo Bun's Four Happy things swap hosted by Lisa at Mrs Bobo Bun and Debi in Daisy Row Easter swap hosted by Joy at Daisy Row.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you and once again thoroughly enjoy the fun of preparing and sending swap gifts out to other craft bloggers.

After the storm comes the calm....and then the gale force winds come back again. We have had gale force icy winds for nigh on two weeks now.
A couple of weeks ago when this windy weather started I had a bit of a scare;the cold sweat type of scare. I was on my way to work driving along the motorway when I discovered that my sturdy little Suzuki Ignis is not gale force wind friendly, as I was nearly blown into the crash barrier on the side of the road.
In truth I don't really think that its the fault of the model of car that I use because I saw larger cars clearly swaying as they battled against the wind too. I do think though as it has a high box type roof this doesn't help stability in such a fierce wind.
I hold on to the steering wheel really tight now and have dropped the speed down to control the car better.

However we did have a couple of days of calm and the warmth of the sun was more apparent ,temperatures rose so we went for a long walk along Los Arenales Beach( That would be the Sun Dunes Beach;such an attractive name) to breath some fresh sea air and enjoy a few hours in the sun, at the same time not having to battle the wind to be able to walk along the beach.

However others had the same idea and the promenade was quite busy:

 Something for everyone!

In all a relaxing couple of hours just sufficient to blow the cobwebs away.

Enjoy your weekend

Amanda :-)

  4. I used to have a little Suzuki Ignis, a silver 3 door like in the picture. I loved my little car and it safely got me around Australia a time or two. I had to get rid of it when I got pregnant with my second baby, as the only way I could fit the pusher in the car was to have one of the back seats down and that wasn't going to work with two baby seats.

  8. Sometimes a little get-away does a tremendous job in getting the cobwebs out! I'm sure you felt it was all worthwhile, even with the windy ride, XOXO

  9. Eeek, that gale sounds really scary! Happened to me once too, in Cape Town - got caught in a wind tunnel - no fun at all. Glad you got out & about though, hope you're having a good weekend,

  10. Thanks for taking us to see the sea, Amanda! For seven years I lived two blocks from a Pacific Ocean beach. I loved living there and miss it!

I'm so glad you were not hurt during your gusty drive!!! Wind can be so amazingly powerful.

While living near the ocean, my youngest daughter and I ventured out on a windy day. When we got home we hopped out of the car and a huge gust of wind bent the front doors of the car back on their hinges so the insurance adjuster considered the car "totaled." We were fine, thankfully, but stunned that such a thing could happen!

    Wishing you less blustery weather,
    Gracie :-)
