Crafty in the Med

I am here to enjoy meeting other bloggers and to share my love of craft ,mostly crochet, my thoughts and my daily happenings here in Alicante,Spain, my adopted country. I belong to a local choir because singing and music makes me happy. Flea markets and book shops are two of my favourite places to be. I read lots......sci´fi/fantasy,buried treasure, and off world adventures. I have a passion for history! I walk and walk and walk for about 10 months per year during the hot months I swim.

Down to earth!

The excitement is over and I have to come back down to earth now and carry on......

but ....... I have lots of things to enjoy thinking about and will do so for a very long time. It was the most wonderful birthday ever. The most wonderful birthday present ever too!!!
Thank you so much everyone for your birthday wishes. I do wish I could have shared my happiness with all of you.   My sisters were only with me for five days and then they were gone again ....five much too short days!
 We wined and dined :-
Cookie and Great Auntie H

at our favourite restaurant El Varadero and although they had both been to Alicante before I managed to grab a few hours from work to show them some of my favourite places in the city

I of course took them to visit Santa Maria Church as it is the oldest church in Alicante after all!

Looking up at the castle and taking photos!

admiring the beautiful mosaic tiles under the eaves of a house here...

turning back to take photos of the Miradors in this old building....

My sister B said she wanted a knocker for her new front door in NSW and she liked this one....

Unfortunately it was on this door ....

which was the entrance to this ......

monument or rather San Nicholas Cathedral .....so sorry B!!!!

The weather was absolutely perfect!!!

However the thrill and excitement hasn't dispersed totally as Sr P and I have quietly celebrated our 42nd Wedding anniversary today.

Thank you all once again for your very kind words and best wishes

Amanda :-)

Enjoy your weekend and Happy Anniversary as well!

  5. A very happy anniversary to you and Sr P! You both must have been very young when you got married!

So pleased that you had such a wonderful birthday celebration, what a treat to have your sisters with you. We have family living abroad and we miss them A LOT.

The weather looks wonderful, and Alicante looks beautiful - def on my list of places to visit.

PS hope Sr P is coping with the early exit of Spain from the World Cup - England also out...but that's not an issue as we support Brazil!!
