Waiting for the plumber! I do wish they'd give an approximate time of when they are going to call in.
Water started dripping down from under our apartment (we are 1st floor) yesterday and so we have to check it out if it is us or not. I think it is because I see water has accumulated in the bottom of the drum of my washing machine. This last year it has been nothing but problems with the sink and washing machine pipes.
I shan't be smiling if he keeps me waiting all day!
Random Acts of Crochet Kindness Group.
I do like to think my RAOCKs travel around the world so I have sent this keyring across the pond to the USA to Kathy at Hummingbird Studio at the lake. She has finally received it! 👏
The Paseo del CoCó (Coconut Walk) is finally finished and was opened last week.
It is a small stretch of land and coastline which follows on from the Postiguet Beach promenade (the city beach).
It was just a long dirt track quite narrow in some places behind some of the old coastal railway lines. It had become popular for people to use it as a shortcut to the Albufereta beach defence wall Walk which links up further along with the Alicante City coast road.
Well they have modernised this eye sore and it now extends the Postiguet promenade further along the coast to join up with with that Albufereta Beach wall coast Walk.
I must say over the last 20 years the city council has constantly been improving the public infrastructure with new roads, parks, promenades, walks and most particularly bicycle paths and so on. It looks so much better and cleaner since I came to live here with Sr P in 1975.
Sr P is particularly proud of his city (very much a city lad) and often says to me lets go here I heard they have restored this place or converted it into...bla bla ....this etc. I never tire of this there always seems to be something different or new.
It was very busy last Sunday and people were thoroughly enjoying the new Walk and of course as no cars are allowed any more they didn't have to dodge the cars trying to get through either.
On the left you can see the old railway buildings they are fenced off at present. Lets hope they are going to do something about tidying that area up and getting rid of all the graffiti on the walls.!They have converted this part of the Walk into a play and keep fit area.
This is where it joins up with the Postiguet Beach promenade.
On the left of the Walk you have the Mediterranean in all its picturesque bluey green glory!
It was a wonderful sunny morning.
I even manage to get a shot of Sr P (very rare) trying out one of the new snazzy coloured benches.
I have never seen such colourful benches before and look a red litter bin too 😃
I have given it some thought and finally I have come to a decision!
I like the snazzy benches and litter bins 💃
It now has a name!
Before I forget I also wanted to tell you that the Park I took you to a few Sundays ago in this post here ,which I mentioned was called Park No Name has finally been named (they must have heard me criticising)! It is now called Parque del Mar (The Sea Park).
Doubts:
As always I do very much like to use natural remedies rather than buy a bottle. I have been reading about using egg shells as a plant fertilizer.
They also mentioned that this type of fertilizer can be used on orchids but before I risk the health of my precious orchids (I have three I spoil lots!) I would like to ask you,the Green Fingers bloggers, your advice. What do you think about using this on orchids?

Good Morning! We had to have plumbers out yesterday too so a gasline could be installed behind the dryer. That sure wasn't cheap and they arrived just when they said they would.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you were able to be out and about a bit.
Blessings,
Betsy
Thank for popping in. I am so tired of things going wrong this plumbing business has been going on for awhileand he still has to come back to fix it some more...tck! I am sure you know how I feel Betsy. None of all this is cheap either here. Plumbing bills seem to be the worse. A x
DeleteGood morning, I hope your plumbing is an easy fix. I dislike waiting on people like that too-they should be able to at least tell you morning or afternoon.
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying seeing your raock on my cast iron rack as I walk right by when I go to my desk top computer-or weaving.
Enjoyed the photos-so nice the city is fixing things up nicer-are you in a tourist area? and I like the new name for the park that had no name.
I am loving those colorful benches too enjoy the rest of your week hugs Kathy
Unfortunately not an easy fix Kathy he has come back today to continue. At least this time he gave me an approximate time of arrival. The whole of Alicante City is very touristic although we live on the outskirts near the road to the beaches. A x
DeleteI too hate waiting in for tradesmen/deliveries. I know they can't give an exact time, but as Kathyinozarks says, they should be able to say morning or afternoon. Aaaaaargh! Love the photos, and nice to put a (masked) face to the name of Sr P. Those benches and bin look like they're made of recycled plastic. I like them. xx
ReplyDeleteHi HH,Unfortunately what with sun glasses and mask( which we all have to wear here in the street) you cant see much of Sr P. That is probably why he allowed me to take the photo :-) I didn't think what the bench could be made of at that time but I think you are probably right. A x
DeleteI hope your plumber doesn't keep you waiting too long and repairs the leak Amanda, I bet Kathy is thrilled with the RAOCK it's beautiful. I hope your niece in Australia received her parcel btw. I love the coconut walk makeover it looks lovely, very clean and bright, that bench is amazing and it's lovely photo of Sr P. Yes egg shells are supposed to be a good fertilizer, I used to add mine to my compost bin in my last garden, they are supposed to deter slugs as well but I only used them in the garden and have never tried them on house plants so I'm sorry I can't really give you any expert advice. xx
ReplyDeleteHe did finally turn up but has to come back. My niece has received the parcel thanks for asking Linda. It took six weeks to get to her! Thanks for the advice all the same about the egg shells. I have heard green tea is good for cactus and succulents as well. A x
DeleteHope you didn't have to wait in all day. Loved the keyring, so unusual but very pretty. You took us on a wonderful tour and yes I liked the bright benches too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lorraine for calling in :-) That path... because it was just a dusty dirty litter ridden path before has been transformed! A x
DeleteThank you for another enjoyable walk, I like your walks, they are always sunny :-)
ReplyDeleteEggshells - we put all ours into out composter, good for the garden, so I can't see that they would be bad for anything. That said, I don't know that much about orchids, but I am sure there is someone who does :-)
Thank you Radka ... not always sunny though I show you the sunny ones LOL! I haven't had much feedback about the orchids & eggshells so I will do a more extensive search on google. A x
DeleteA very handsome husband you have! I enjoyed following along to see where you took your jaunt. I agree, the benches look like recycled plastic and so bright! You're lucky your husband likes adventures. ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa. I am sure Sr P will be very happy and grateful for your compliment but I am not telling him that LOL! When my daughter was little she used to call her father "Indiana Jones" because she liked our Sunday outings so much to all the places he would take us to, all the back routes up into the mountains. Shame he never had a land rover he would have really enjoyed driving that! You are right he is very adventurous. :-) A x
DeleteLovely for you to get out and about, dodging the rainy days! I don´t know about orchids, but they say washed, crushed eggshells help fertilize the soil and can be a deterrent for slugs and snails, which is what I´m going to try to keep the courgettes and pumpkins safe. I read that you should bake them in a low oven for awhile to help crushing, some say yes and some no, two chances I suppose. Plumbing and electrics are the worst, especially when the problem seems miles away from the source. Hope he turns up! xcx
ReplyDeleteHi Chrissie, Thanks for calling in. Thanks also for your advice about the eggshells I will do that. The plumber has been and gone twice now and what a mess he has left behind him. You can see what I mean in my next post which I'll upload on Wednesday :-) A x
DeleteHi Amanda, lovely to see .. no pun intended that they named no name park, really felt bereft fir it!
ReplyDeleteAnd the new walkway is really lovely and with you and Sr P .. love the benches and brought bins!
Re the followers, it’s more of a mystery now than when I first started in 2010, it was easy then to get followers and find out who they were and reciprocate. Now it’s very difficult.
I used to chase them till a few years back when began to find folk very rarely reciprocated, so it hardly moves these days. If you’ve lots you either post a real lot and are diligently chasing, or been blogging for a very long time... or run a challenge blog.
Clever idea that crochet keychain, pretty and practical too.
Well done!
Thanks for Sharing, God bless and keep you safe, and all those you love, hugs Shaz in Oz.x

Edit BRIGHT, not brought bins..
DeleteThanks for popping in Shaz. By the way,What is a challenge blog? I don't look for followers any more that was when I started blogging. I am more than happy with the actual number of bloggers who share the contact with me. A x
DeleteThose benches are lovely, really cheerful. Great photos of sunlight! It is so nice to see folks out and about walking in the sun like it is summer already.
ReplyDeletePraying the plumber is there and fixed the leak
It was like a summer day that particular morning but the weather has turned back to April like weather; wet and chilly. A x
DeleteOh the Mediterranean is just amazingly beautiful!
ReplyDeleteIt has a multitude of changing colours depending on its mood. A x
DeleteWhat a pain! always caring for plumbers , electricians and a lot more
ReplyDeleteThat´s why I envy the Kings and Queens they not have to waste their time with these matters .I know , I know! They have other problems but sometimes I feel a bit tired of live little challenges . Good luck anyhow!
It all looks so beautiful. If you ever did a post on how you met Sr P and moved to this beautiful area I missed it. I would love to hear all about that adventure.
ReplyDeleteI have been thinking about that Mere as I have had other requests:-) It is a funny story but how to approach it! Hmm! A x
